24 December CHRISTMAS EVE
Often overlooked and lost in a cyclone of day-before prepping (marinade the turkey, mix the stuffing, peel 1000 vegetables etc). The Taster suggests that this is the perfect evening to indulge in Paradox Cuisine: take something that doesn’t sound very high-end, buy the poshest version available, and serve with the very best fizz. For example: a delicious supper of proper Melton Mowbray pork pies & Champagne. Further possibilities include locally-sourced cheese on toast, artisan hot dogs or sausage rolls, or simply an enormous pile of bits & dips from your high-street deli, followed by some decent ice cream and something sparkling from a Welsh or English vineyard.
