Etherington’s Farm Shop, in Cornwall, is a great example of an eco-conscious food enterprise. Its poultry is free-range, its beef is pasture-fed, and many of its grocery items are created by local craftspeople. The Shop has donated this great prize — a Christmas Hamper — for whoever is drawn out of The Taster’s bowler hat on 20 December.

The hamper is a gourmet’s delight, containing Stewart’s luxury Scottish fudge; herbed lemon olives, and olives with piri-piri by Torrent; Boxing Day chutney, Christmas marmalade and pickle, plus spiced wine & rum ‘Christmas Syrup,’ all by Bay Tree; a cheeky couple of Cab Savs — and a pair of mini luxury Christmas Puddings by Great Taste award-winners, Butler’s Grove.

  1. Love your seasonal notes. Poles apart was very interesting -an unusual article and apt for this time of year! Also enjoyed The History of Fridges, and science of freezing. First time I`ve read your magazine which Richard introduced me to -it`s delightful!

    1. Very glad you like it! Hope it proves useful in the days ahead. But do fill out our readers survey (click on the picture above & it’ll take you to the right page) and you *might* win the hamper – it’s not just for regular subscribers, so long as you put in the code (on page 7 of the print magazine) we don’t mind who enters.

      Thanks again, much appreciated :)
